summer camp

Happy Independence Day weekend/extended mix here in Utah... We had some 4th of July mellow, good times at BrianHead with family, then got our 12 year old dude F. off to Birch Creek Service Ranch for 3 weeks of camping fun (and character building) this morning.
As a mother, I'm feeling a bit jittery about being parted from my young fella for so long. But, by the time afternoon came I'd channeled that nervous 'Mama Bear' energy into an industrious task- etsying.
And so by some miraculous twist of fate (it would seem- listing's been on my 'To Do' list for months) I got some skirts up on Etsy. It always feels like quite an accomplishment when I finally pull off this task.

I've been making wrap around skirts for Beehive Bazaar all weekend, and listening to Hunger Games- my pick for our book group book this month. I watched my 13 year old devour it in days, then polish off Catching Fire (the sequel) in the few days after that. Needless to say... I got a bit addicted and finished off both books too.
Lots of sewing and listening to tales of adventure and romance in a post-apocalyptic world this weekend, not a bad mixture for a cold, snowy weekend.

Wrap-around skirts on etsy.

the first step

You gotta start somewhere... I finally have some skirts cut out, some apron tops sewn together, this seems to be the tough part- just gettin' moving back into the sewing room- when there are so many other jobs to do everyday. Now if I can just pick up the pace I can be ready for the Beehive Bazaar at the end of April.

wrap-around skirts for ladies

After some trial and error in the pattern department I think I've finally got a shape I feel satisfied with. I'm sorry to say that they won't be available on my Etsy site until January- most likely. If you've got to have one- you'll just have to snatch one up at the Beehive Bazaar next weekend. With fall and winter in mind I made a few reversible skirts but most of them are single layer... both are so cute over jeans.

There is a new skirt in town... In all of my free time, usually from 10 pm to 1 am, I have been making some new skirts for the little ladies. I really like the way they are turning out- the reversibility and the colorful fabrics I've been finding. I've got some available on etsy and- you may even find one if you take a peek in Utah Valley Magazine back to school section this month.
Soon, with just a bit more organization and some more time management on my part, I will have some adult wrap-arounds available. But, I'll for sure have adult sizes at the Beehive Bazaar this December. Can't wait.

some new skirts on etsy

I've been working my little tail off, mostly trying to get my house clean, decluttered and ready to sell, but- I've also been making a few new skirts. I've just put them up on Etsy, and when we get back from Lake Powell next week (after one final salute to summer), I'll be adding my new super, darling wrap-around skirts that I've just started making. Stayed tuned. Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend.

life out of balance....
so...all I do is sew- and here are some pictures to prove it. I am getting ready for the Beehive Bazaar coming up here on Friday- which- by the way-is going to be so great, if you live in Utah you have to go!

first of all, thank you cass barney for painting our fence, we truly love it, and may just have to never move because of it. it's a fabulous backdrop for skirts, or maybe too distracting, but-oh well...whatever.
i am making all of these skirts for the beehive bazaar, coming up here in 2 weeks, mother's day weekend.

i made this skirt for a friend today. an elastic waist is always a hard thing on adult size items, which is why i have only been making up to about a 12 to 14 girls size. i guess i prefer a more taylored fit to my clothes, if i was petite i probably wouldn't care so much. but when you're "big boned" you have to worry about what kind of waist is in your skirt, but really, that's a whole other story...

birthday skirt

I just made this skirt for a birthday present. I think it turned out very cute, you really can't go wrong with the goldfish-in-bags fabric.

gnomes

Fabulous gnome fabric, I bought it thinking it would be good for something BOY, but what? A pair of pants? So, it ended up on some tiny skirts and onsies.

skull skirt

This skirt is about size 12, the skull fabric is great because it has gold sparkles outlining each skull. They shimmer in the sunlight; and who doesn't need a little extra sparkle every now and again?
